Rashbari Garden House: A Time-Travel

Last weekend was awesome... Me, Aniruddh (my brother) and Bonny (brother from another mother 😆) were in Kolkata and visited Dakshineshwar temple and Belur Mutt (Ramakrishna Mission headquarters).

And then we literally went back in time to visit a "Bagaan Bari" (Garden House) called RashBari Garden House. The place has a rich history and dates back to late 19th century. This place is a beautiful temple complex that was started by Shri Purnachandra Dawn of the renowned Jorasanko Dawn family. There's a beautiful Navaratna temple (with nine pinnacles /spires on top) dedicated to the family God, Radharaman Jew.

There's even a RaashMancha where festivities happen during the Raash Utsav. There are 6 Aath Chala Shiva temples, which are beautifully renovated and a grand clock tower.

Just beside the temple complex is the Rashbari Garden House overlooking the Ganges... I fell in love with each and every corner of the garden house... There's a old word charm in the place which you can see from the pictures am posting here... Though I took them with my phone camera, I wish I could have clicked these pictures with my DSLR camera. The rooms are beautiful and spacious with attached washrooms. We even get to know about the history and heritage of the Dawn family from a book called "Dawn Bari Bongsho Brittanto" that's placed on the writing table in each room... I hope they will provide an English translation of the book too in recent future. I have heard that the food is good too... Since we had Bhog from Belur Mutt so we didn't try the food. So all in all if someone wants to experience the grandeur of old Bengal without burning a hole in the pocket then Rashbari Garden House is the place to be.

So here are some photos from the trip.
